Does anyone actually read these things anymore?

Spring break is almost over - I fly back to Scotland in a matter of hours. Still jet-lagged from New York but had to most brilliant time - we ended up staying slap-bang in the middle of times square, on the 43rd floor! Every time you went out the door you were accosted by people - it was worse than the area outside the library during elections (we fondly call it the 'gauntlet'). Ended up seeing THREE shows:

1) Les Miz - it's had a make-over; much faster pace, bits cut out; we were sitting at a dodgy angle but at the end of the day it was still good. Eponine, Enjolras and Marius were especially good, while Jean Valjean had a spitting problem...
2) Wicked - what can I say? I was absolutely blown away! I adored the American Galinda (Kendra Kassebaum) and Julia Murney's interpretation of Elphaba was wonderful - different from Idina Menzel, but still phenomenal. Oh to be able to sing and act like these two
3) 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee - an adorable show, involving audience participation, adults pretending to be 11 year olds and the brilliant line: 'I like my hair, really it is pleasant to the touch...'

As well as doing all the tourist-things like going up the Empire State Building and seeing the Statue of Liberty.

Anyway, it's my dad's birthday and he's just got back for lunch so I will sign off now - hope you're all well

HORRENDOUS night last night - barely slept.....just couldn't get my head to shut up/get comfortable on my horrible mattress....

I have class in 45 mins, I'm hardly awake, I'm not dressed yet and I'm moaning on here.

I really hope it's not one of those days...

Something possibly very exciting:

I am going to attempt to put up a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream in the Byre (the only professional theatre in town), this time next year - the choice of play may have to change, but I will be directing again! Plus, this way I will have directed a musical, greek tragedy, shakespearean comedy and AIDS benefit - not a bad spread eh? - over the course of my university career

Ugh essays....

...I've done the research, I have a vague idea how to answer the question, I have a plan and have marked out all the examples etc for each paragraph....

....but I still find it difficult to get my thoughts onto paper...or, in this case, the screen....

...I think a big part of the problem is the amount of time I have left to do it - it's not due 'til tuesday and I have nothing on tomorrow, so I guess the panic hasn't set in yet...

*sigh*..........................so what do I do now? I have rehearsal in an hour.....GAH

My birthday (part one) :-)

...today is one of those incredibly rare times where I have woken up and still been drunk....thank goodness I don't have class today...

Yesterday was brilliant. I saw my parents, we went for a meal with my friends where I was essentially spoiled rotten - I got some wonderful presents and just generally had a lovely time...BUT I also found out about what I would actually be seeing in London over spring break - not only do I get to see Wicked again, but also Les Miserables but instead of going to London - I'M GOING TO BROADWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so ridiculously excited!!!!!!!

The 'pub crawl' last night was not so much a crawl but a short walk with drinking involved - I drank more than I think I probably ever have before in my life and although I'm pretty sure I didn't *do* anything particularly silly, I think I may just have been entertaining for the sheer drunkenness....Ah well, if you can't do that on your 21st when can you eh?

I have still never thrown up due to alcohol...

....And now I'm going back to bed

xxxxx
